Vivo V5 Plus and V5 Lite selfie based smartphones launched

Ahead of its January 23rd launch, the Vivo V5 Plus has become official along with a lower specification version of the same dubbed the Vivo V5 Lite. The smartphone was spotted on the website of a Malaysian retailer with specifications and pictures in tow. 

The Chinese multinational technology company had already sent out press invites in India for the launch event on January 23. The smartphone is targeted at the mid-range segment, which competes with other devices like Gionee S6s and Oppo F1s. 

Vivo V5 Plus specifications 
The Vivo V5 comes with a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display and runs on the 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC stacked with 4GB of RAM. 

The camera is where the phone shines out the most. The smartphone sports a 16MP rear camera along with a LED flash. The front dual camera assemblage is the show stealer with 20MP + 8MP sensors. 



The 20MP camera on the handset uses Sony's IMX376 1/2.78-inch sensor, has an aperture of f/2.0 and comes with 5 piece lens system. The 8MP camera is used to capture depth-of-field information used for capturing “Bokeh” images. 

The phone has an internal storage of 64GB which can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD slot. In terms of sustenance, the phone has a 3160mAh battery with fast charging support. 

Connectivity options include - 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. On the software front, the dual-SIM Vivo V5 Plus runs Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. 

The dimensions of the smartphone are 152.8x74.00x7.26 mm and it weighs 158.6 grams. Additionally, the Vivo V5 Plus also has a fingerprint scanner embedded right into its home button. 

Vivo V5 Lite specifications 
The Vivo V5 Lite smartphone is the younger brother of the Vivo V5 Plus and comes with a 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display., an octa-core 64-bit processor and 3GB of RAM. 

On the camera front, the phone has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a front - a 16MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. 



As per the company claims the ‘Selfie Spotlight' creates lighting effects required for 'picture-perfect' images. 

It has 32GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via a microSD card slot (up to 128GB). The V5 Lite is powered by a 3000mAh battery while the connectivity options include - 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, OTG, FM radio, and GPS. 

It measures 153.8x75.5x7.6mm and weighs 155 grams.The phone for now is available in Crown Gold and Rose Gold shades. On the software front, the Vivo V5 Lite runs Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
